![]() ![]() ![]() Those are not tattoos, but are apparently drawn on photos by a dude called Jean-Luc Moerman. Do you think it is realistic, and will look as good, to have similar patterns tattooed? Has this already been done before? The black here looks really... black, will it look as good on a real body, with lighting variations? Anyway I think this looks really beautiful. Especially the Pamela Anderson one. |

not really my thing on white folks, but it reminds me of samoan tatoos, which i am a big fan of, when they are on... well samoans.

In skin, black is never going to heal ink black like that, it will still look black of course, but if you held up a piece of really black satin or velvet, it won't look like that. Those patterns would tattoo okay, but in my opinion, look like a badly done knockoff of traditional samoan tattoos and that's really a shame. It'd be hard to find an artist willing to do a bodysuit like that, since it's a huge undertaking to do a suit at all, something like that would take years, for a piece that isn't going to win you anything or be very impressive in your portfolio.

i also like the traditional technique of doing samoan tattoos. the craft of that shit is really appealing to me.

Ah it's a shame. I'm pretty much a black and white dude (really light skin, dark hair), so I thought this would suit me well, but... I guess I'll just stick to watching those pictures again and again then. This looks really fine.
That samoan technique looks paintful, but it is quite fascinating indeed |

If you look up pictures of people with suits similar to that (not the samoan ones), I don't think you'd want one anyway. There's a huge difference between a tattoo and drawing on a picture. There are definitely some cool things you can do with negative space, but simpler and more form fitting looks better

the stuff that looks reddish just looks like new water shading, it'll turn out like the lighter grays, the water in the washes just makes it look a little more red while it's healing. That sleeve is done in black and washes (which are a mixture of black ink and water, mostly, in proportions each artist mixes on their own. Nobody will tell you the contents of their washes, it's like the coke recipe or the kfc spices)

Anthony this sleeve looks cool indeed; and since I'm white as fuck this type of tattoo could pretty well suit my arm (though my forearm is a bit tan unfortunately).
I've always liked the way color tattoos look better, but now I do appreciate nice black and grey, or black and washes stuff more. Just as I liked drawings, now I prefer patterns. I need to settle my tattoo tastes. |
